Airbus MEL

My Bus has an AFT and a FWD Cargo Compartment (like everybody knows).

There may be times when one or both fire bottles are u/s. The MEL says:

Both may be inoperative provided flammable or combustible cargo is not carried in the affected compartment.
What does this mean?

(BTW, English is not my native language)

Means, you cannot load any luggage or general cargo that could be ignited.
Bags with clothing could burn if they are ignited whilsted beeing transported in the hold (camping matches etc.).
So you just cannot use the affected hold.

Absolutely right!

But why is the MEL talking about about "affected compartment"?

E.g. if bottles have used due to a false warning in the aft hold one can suggest to leave aft empty and load the fwd CCMPT and go......

There seems to be a fair amount of angst and hand-wringing emanating from certain quarters.

Hetfield,

You have asked this question before and have had it answered before.
