A330-340 Alternate fuel planning
A quick question, on the A330-340 FMGS:
The VOL4 (4.04.10) explains what distance is taken into account for the alternate fuel planning in the FMGS;
*Airway distance < 200NM, Altn fuel planned at FL220
*Airway distance > 200NM, Altn fuel planned at FL310
Here's the question:
What if the Airway distance to the Altn is, lets say 50NM? Of course you won't climb to FL220 is this case.
Is the alternate fuel in the FMGS, for a "ballistic flight" to e.g. FL80,(with the FMGS reflecting this), or is the alternate fuel just way off (less than the real life altn fuel consumed)?
PS; Company procedures allow us to use the FMGS altn fuel figures in flight, as long as the airway distance, (including SID,STAR and APP) & wind are real life figures.
Thanks for all your thoughts
