FMGS 319 question
Hello
I am in intital training for the Airbus 319.
I have been using an add on for Flight simulator 2004.( airbus vol 1 series from feelthere) .
I am aware that the software is limited.
I am trying to create a segment and intercept it while on a heading assigned by ATC while in flight.
I have the segment defined in the Flight plan page and am heading towards the segment with about a 80 degree intercept angle. The course between the 2 points is defined but with a dashed green line.
On the PFD the "TO" waypoint section (upper right corner) is dashed. (no TO waypoint)
The FMA says heading and when I try to engage the NAV mode (by pushing the heading knob) the NAV mode appears on teh FMA but immedialtely disappears.
I am thinking that its because I have no TO waypoint selected but if I "CLR" all the waypoints until the next waypoint I want to reach on top of the flight plan, my segment disappears as well and I end up going direct to the waypoint.
thank you

Hello
You need a proper from and to waypoint and you need to be sequenced between those two points or outside of them with no PPOS to intcercept.
If you have dashed lines at the top right of your ND then you dont have a proper to waypoint. It could be a software problem with your program or it could be that you didint clear from the top and sequence the points.
Hope this helps

Try: "direct to", then create your desired radial ie 270, 090 etc, place that figure in radial INBOUND and you should intercept.
Or, create a position, bearing and distance, but make the distance overly longer than you need to create an intercept point in the fmgc.

The key lies in sequencing the Fpln correctly.
Often the from waypoint will have ppos.
you need to have a from wpt and ofcourse your TO wpt must show the position you wish to reach through thr desired radial

The TO waypoint should never be dashed if you have a flightplan in the FMGS (which you have). So it seems that this is a glitch in the simulation software.
Sequencing should be as mentioned before, a FROM waypoint leading to the TO waypoint on the desired radial, and your track intercepting in between. Then arm NAV (it should become blue).
The suggestion Mr Ree gives is valid on later FMGS versions but I don't think that's implemented in this simulator, so it's not possible to do.
