And the Boeing 757, I would imagine most commercial transports have it.

Wasn't there a fatal crash of a DC 8 (?), many many moons ago (SAUDIA ?) due to wheel well fire and subsequent HYD loss?

OK, I've found it

"The Saudi report recommended that all transport aircraft "be equipped with wheel well overheat and fire detectors, wheel well fire protection, brake temperature sensors, tire pressure sensors and corresponding indicators in the cockpit."

http://www.flightsafety.org/ap/ap_sep93.pdf

Very interesting report concerning takeoff with flat tire!

Seems this guy had a (self inflicted) wheel well fire before he started rolling.

@IGh

Thx for your post. My airbus has neither a wheel well fire warning nor a tire pressure indicating system.
