RNAV vs GPS approaches, what's the difference?

Hello all

I was going through the supplemantary procedures for automatic flight on the NG to find approaches using VNAV.
The thing is that when it catecorizes the approaches in order to recommend the appropriate roll mode it states RNAV,GPS and TACAN etc, etc, which means(if not mistaken) that a GPS approach is a different approach from a RNAV approach.
Could someone explain the difference because I thought it was exactly the same ?

In a nutshell, Your RNAV approach may be specified to be carried out with a particular fixing method e.g. GPS or DME/DME, or it can be specified as anything that has a good enough RNP.

In other words, GPS approaches are a subset of RNAV approaches.
