B767 Cargo Hold Space

I have friend of mine who is going to lease a 767-200 pax aircraft for a start up airline.

Some consultant has told him that B767 can carry a cargo load (an average cargo load, not just containers filled up with say, steel) upto the aircraft's Max ZFW just on its belly holds. I find it little hard to belive but I don't want to dispute anyone without actually knowing the facts.

If anyone is knowledgeable on this subject, please enlighten me.
Thanks a lot.

With a ZFW of roughly 112000kg and OEW of 80000kg = 32000kg payload / 22 LD2 containers = 1.45 tonnes per container. The standard weight limit is about 1.22 t per.

It would seem to be a reasonable assumption that you could fill the lower decks of a 767-200 with LD2s without regard to the ZFW and have a few MTs left over for a few paying passengers if not too much is placed in the smallish bulk area left over down there.

Perhaps the consultants language was not perfect, but the general idea is as above ?

Nice friends by the way, SW747.

Thanks VA Pilot 2004, That is the kind of figures I was hoping for and now I can have a discussion with some figures to prove my points.
