Definition of a SID Deviation?

Level busts aside, how is a deviation defined? To what level of lateral accuracy must a SID be flown? Do the limits change with the type of navaid being used?

Equipment accuracy as approved for flying SIDs/STARs:
GPS or dual DME - Type A Procedure: +/- 2nm
GPS or dual DME & IRU - Type B +/- 1nm

Both criteria must be adhered to 95% of the time or better. A bust would be up to the person on the box.

Have a look at the FAA's AC 90-100 (Advisory Circular) and for Eurocontrol AC 90-96A for more. The basics are covered in 90-94.

Assuming a European OPeration.

Bear in mind that you can not fly an RNAV route below MSA unless you are PRNAV qualified. BRNAV only allows you to operate to MSA.

PRNAV approval is a specific approval from your regulating authority which requires aircraft approval, operator approval and pilot training. I do not have the references to hand but the EuroControl web site has good sections on both BRNAV and PRNAV.
