Landing Elev. on A320
Hi all,
what are the conditions req. for you to get the destination elevation on ECAM press. page (on ground during ramp check) ?
Does it always show zero before the first flight of the day (selector at AUTO-eng. not started) ?
Cheers

The AUTO position requires FMGS data to set the elevation.
I've never looked that closely at programming time but I guess as soon as the FMGS has a destination inserted it applies the info from ithe database.

LDG ELEV O on A320
Hello my friend,I can never figure A320 series out since I have been flying for 3 years and the aircraft teaches us something new everyday. Can you remember the MSN of your aircraft?Because our 320 is only 5 months old and unless you select the destination in the active flight plan, it will either show you 0 or nothing depending on how old your a/c is.As you know, normally, when the LDG ELEV selector in the AUTO position, during ground check, depending on your company SOP, it is to check that this selector has fully in the notch or fully counter-clockwise set position.I hope this help
Cheers

I have been on and off the bus for ten years (now on).
Because we have some old busses with the radial press dial and no detent I always look at the press page to ensure I see "AUTO" by landing elevation.
As to what it is supposed to display?
I have seen the correct landing elevation before alignment is complete, I have seen take off altitude after alignment is complete, and I have seen many numbers in between, both during and after alignment.
I am assuming that there must be several different software standards for this system.
My advise: Check to ensure it displays AUTO. Sometime after climbing past 8000AFE (Or anytime before commencing the decent) check to see if the correct landing elevation is displayed.
