Q400 assumed temp. & reduced Np.

Any of you Q400 drivers out there who use the flex/reduced power (assumed temperature) take-off and/or reduced Np for landing?

We're not allowed to do any of the two, but I'd like to hear your take on it if you've tried it? Is there any money to be saved on reduced torque on take-off, and is it that much quieter with reduced Np for landing?

Cheers.

We use both

Each time you do a flex/reduced power its entered in the tech log and saves/extends engine life

As for reduced Np for landing its purely a noise reduction feature. We have debated amongst our selves if it has any effect on the landing-The Jury's still out on that, but remember we are talking about the Q400. Each landing is a mystery to me till its on the ground
