B727 (100 & 200) Cargo Door

Hello;

As an airport fire officer, I am interested in having some information (diagrams and instructions on how to open manually the main deck cargo door on B727. (ref. UPS DC 8 fire in PHL where the ARFF personnel had difficulty opening the main deck door manually).

Thank you.

Check with Boeing Product Support, I worked for Lockheed Product Support and we supplied "Crash Rescue Charts" free of charge to any airport fire department, that requested them. I can't remember everything that was on the chart but emergency access surly was.

One problem you may run into is that there are nurmous companies modifing 727's into freighters and there could be many different methoids of opening the door.

If the door is the customary size, I very much doubt that anyone except Samson could open it manually!

Most freighters have a hand pump arrangement to raise the main deck door if the hydraulic motor fails on some it is by the door, others in the wheel well.... While it may be useful in some circumstances, I wouldn't advise it if the aircraft is on fire.

on the 727freighters i flew you had to switch over a valve in the forward hold (if i remember correctly) and then use the hand pump in the left wheelwell.
But as said there are lots of different models
