Smile T/O w.IR 2 inop on A320

Hi all,

With IR 2 inop (available only in ATT mode), the MEL says not to perform T/O in CONF1+F, could someone pls tell me the reason ?

Best regards

Hi,
Think it has something to do with the Auto Flap Retraction protection (which is lost if take off is performed with this scenario).

Try this from AI a couple of years ago when I asked the same question.

Uncommanded Flap Retraction during Take Off.

Situation
An aircraft (320) was dispatched with SFCS No 2 SLAT Channel de-activated iaw MMEL 01-27-51-01 B.

SFCS No 2 FLAP Channel has validated an intermittent high computed airspeed from ADIRU 1. As the aircraft was in Config 1+F, the SFCS No 2 FLAP Channel engaged the FLAP Auto Command to retract the flap. The auto command is available only in Config 1+F with airspeed above 210 kts. SFCS No 2 FLAP Channel was unable to crosscheck the airspeed coming from No 1 ADIRU with the ADIRU 2 airspeed coming from SFCS No 2 SLAT Channel (INOP iaw MMEL above).

The same condition would occur if dispatched with ADR/IR 2 inop, having selected the rotary switch to off.

O.K. that seems to explain it. Thanks so much FlapsOne.
Cheers!
