Cabin access to cargo holds

Just for reference I would like a better understanding of what types of doors are allowed for the cargo hold access from the cabin?

Do you have to have one? Is it necessary to be airtight? Is it no -go if you dont have one?

Thanks

In my experience:
  • Nord 262, curtain separated pax cabin from baggage compt, which was located aft of flight deck and forward of pax cabin.
  • DH8 - Door, not airtight allowed entry to baggage compt.
  • BAe146 - No entry from cabin.
  • B717 - No entry from cabin.
