B738 :speed limit flag with engine seizure

Why do you get the speed limit flag on the PFD on the failed side with a engine seizure? Sometimes you get the speed trim light as well, but not always. I guess it has something to do with the lack of N1 information from the failed engine?? Who knows more about this

Hi - just trying to think back to my type rating course.

I think those indications occur due to failures related to the engine failure, e.g generator off bus / eng hydraulic pump etc. They are not due to lack of N1 information (actually, you'll probably still have N1 roatation in flight due to air flow !).

I can't remeber exact details and manuals hidden away somewhere !
