DC10 Intercom Problem?

Anyone familiar with the DC10 cockpit intercom system? When I attempt to plug in my headset into the mic jack located on the sidewall where the O2 mask plugs in, I get a hot mic and the PTT on the control column has no control over the headset mic.

At this time, I am unable to use the boom mic on my headset because of this issue.

Thanks!

Re: DC10 Intercom Problem?

What make of headset?

Does it behave this way at the other (F/O, F/E, jumpseat) stations?

Re: DC10 Intercom Problem?

If memory serves, though it probably doesn't, that is the wrong jack for a headset mic, it is wired differently, and a headset boom mic needs to be connected to the mic jack on the jack panel, that's where you plug in your headset.
This is with the usual disclaimer that as these aircraft have 'been around the block' they can have been subjected to all sorts of modification and may well not now be as Larry Lamm describes.
