A340 engine changing time

Simple question. Ignorant poster with this matter.

How long does it take to take off number 4 engine on a virgin A340, at Heathrow, and put a new one on?

Thanks ppruners

Dan

If it takes overnight, they bloody well haven't a clue what they're doing.

But that may well be the result of not having done the task in a longlong time!

(reminds me of the USAF KC-135R FOD - where they had to fly in the ONE engine change crew who had any real-life experience at the job...)

depending on the number of Techs and equipment available, it can be done in anything from four to eight hours.

Yep, book values agree with that - 4 to 8 hours seems bang on - provided the engine didn't go bang in the U.S. (EWR?) as once happened to a VIR A343. 3 Engined ferry then ensued....

As with anything in life, depends on :

Where are the relevant people, and are they doing anything else first ?

Where are the relevant spares ?

Where are the relevant tools ?
