pusher with canard?

www.avtechintl.com refers, an aircraft whose specification includes coat hangers and a belted potty(??).

Is this canard more cosmetic than constructive and having eliminated propwash from the wing is it such a good idea to re-introduce downwash from the fore-wing? Admittedly the area looks small but surely its loading and lift coefficient will "top out" first thus precluding the wing from ever reaching an optimal lift coefficient thus not only missing the main point of pusher engines but suffering all the design complexities of the whole configuration. It was a General Dynamics boss, I think, who said "If you can't afford the analysts, software people and engineers then the best place for a canard is on your competitors airplane."

At first sight the pusher config seems to be a solution to minimise cabin strikes from close coupled props if something goes wrong and the blades go walking. The wing is so well aft the rear control surfaces are high-Tee. So is this canard primarily pitch control rather than lift assisting and what will happen if it stalls? Nose pitch down? It has to manage a potentially massive cg range exerting lift from what appears to be a very small area. Puffed rather than reviewed on p23, 22-28 Mar Flight International.

There's already an a/c with that configuration available: Piaggio Avanti. From what I've read, its performance is very good.
