Met Charts - 528 line

Met office forecast charts, apart from isobars etc. often show dashed lines marked 546 and 528 etc. I have vague memories that these are "thickness" lines, and that the position of the 528 line is related to snowfall.

Looking at the surface forecast chart for Sat 5th. Feb on website http://meteonet.nl/aktueel/brackall.htm for example, shows that the 528 line has moved south of the British Isles. Does this mean that snow is likely for next weekend?

Could someone help me understand this?

Sorry - link should be Bracknell charts
