For the A300 experts...

This one goes out to the A300 experts...

Every time I see an A300 stand at a gate or remote stand, the thing which attracts my attention is the deployment of the leading edge flaps. Since there's is no other aircraft type I can recall doing the same when parked I was wondering someone could shine a light on this...

This has been covered before, though I haven't searched for it. It is a SOP on this type to reduce wear and tear on the slat mechanism - as you are always going to use L/E slats on T/O the crews just leave them out after landing.

Ok, same thing with the S2000 where flaps 15 are set when on the ground.

in responce to ur question....

both the A300 and A310 ops procedure state the if the turn around of the aircraft is less than 2hrs then it's adviseable to keep slats extended to reduce wear. but if it were say day stoping then you would retract fully....

hope that answers ur quest...
