From when a UAV was shot down over Kosovo:
The pilot got up from his seat and headed over to the bar
For passenger a/c, the situation ain't the same as the SLF do take some reassurance that the first folks to arrive at the accident scene will be the crew.

Same deal for cargo a/c sharing airspace with passenger flights. Imagine if one of the a/c in the Ueberlingen midair had been a UAV.

That's a bit of a tricky one. It is perfectly possible to make the case that if the automatics had been in charge separation would have been maintained. That was the terrible tragedy of that accident.

I agree with John, thats a tricky one, but if the other aircraft was a UAV flying fully-automatic it might not have happened, we'll never know.
