Fuel Burn Vs Weight

B738, anyone got a rule of thumb or preferably a formula for working out extra\reduced fuel burn for a TO weight that differs from the computer plog TO weight.

Jeppesen used to provide this on our plogs for a previous company, eg 78kg per 1000kg above or below scheduled TO weight. Their calculation obviously based on flight time and flight profile.

Thumbs up

Thumb rule - you save 3,5% of the weight reduction.

Offload 3000 kg - you save 105 kg. fuel.

Agree with Empty Cruise's figure of 3.5 %, but it's 3.5% per hour.

Wink DOH!

Of course Slick - I should start reading my own posts after posting them - might catch the odd embarrasing omission.

But hey - you did the work for me

Stay safe - brgds from
