IAS/Angle of Bank

I would like to check on the relationship between IAS/AOB; is it (IAS/10) + 5 = AOB for a rate 1 turn with knots and the same with 7 instead of 5 when using MPH? Or is it the other way around? Thanks for anybody's help.

quite sure it's
IAS(knots)/10+half the answer = AOB
dont know about MPH although adding 1 third instead of half seems to give a good approximate answer

Thanks for that. I had never heard of that "+ half answer" business, it seems like a good way of looking at it.

A good rule of thumb is 10% of KTAS plus 7.

See this site: Rate of turn

It's 10% of airspeed

Plus 7 for knots.

Plus 5 for mph.

For example 100mph is slower than 100kts and therefore the aircraft will require less bank and hence a smaller number must be added.
