Post British Regional Jet - ahead of the pack?

Why are we so good?

We design a short haul twin jet for 65 passengers with a 2 crew flight deck. Tough as old boots. It's bound to be a success!!!

But you're thinking "What plane's he talking about? I know 4 engines, but two...no you've got me there"

Let me help here. The BAC 1-11

So my question is what is a regional jet as distinct from a jet, global jet(?) or any other kind of jet?
