Post Currency/Proficiency Checks?

What are the mandated flight checks that are required to retain currency and/or proficiency. I am aware of Proficiency/Instrument checks every six months, 3 takeoffs & landings every 90 days day and night. Are there any others or does your company have other checks to maintain proficiency.

Suppose that you hadn't done 3 takeoffs & landings in the required 90 day period, would it be sufficient to hop in the sim/aircraft and bash the circuit for the 3. What if the required 90 day had lapsed; would you require a C&T Capt to do you a currency check?
