Why did the Spirit of St. Louis only have windows in the sides?
If I was Lindbergh, I would have prefered to be able to look ahead for wx and such on a long trip like that. I assume he didn't have an autopilot
Did he have a gyro?

Never mind. I found the answer on http://www.charleslindbergh.com/plane/
Apparently he used a periscope because the fuel tanks blocked the view.
