707 EGMC to EBOS VFR 2000ft

707 left Southend this morning (the one with allegally illigal part
fitted-said to be now o.k.)
Could not get the gear UP (not surprised after 2 years on the ground)
Diverted to Ostend at 2000 ft VFR.
Bet that surprised London Info.

Steamhead:

What on earth is an allegally illigal part?

A and C 31st December 2002 15:58

I think he means a part that did not have a valid JAA form 1 or FAA form 8130-3.

Raw Data 31st December 2002 18:12

Ah yes, that would be an allegedly illegal part...

A and C/Raw Data:

Thanks for that; now I understand. By the way, was it the CB-J 707 by any chance?

Hogg 31st December 2002 19:21

Well guys it was only a ferry flight, going to Ostend, and not diverting! flown with gear down and pins in at 245Kias! Wheres the drama??:) :(

Steamhead 31st December 2002 19:29

Hogg
No, it was not a ferry flight, gear down ,pins in.
The crew spent some time in the hold trying to raise the gear before cancalling their flight plan and DIVERTING to EBOS.
The only thing I missed was their original destination when the original clearance was given.

Aircraft is TL-ADJ ex Scibe Cargo B707!!!!
Routing was EGMC to HLLM (Mitiga, Libya)

I do not want to be rude but the use of your spellchecker might help the rest of us understand your posts !

Flaps8 what's the problem?

Flaps8 I find it quite clear what is being said, what's your problem with a few spelling mistakes. We aren't all perfect with your language and don't need to be. ;)

Why Ostend ??

Why did they divert to Ostend ?

Seems to me that Ostend must be the best place to repair a 707. I've heard so many rumors about the maintenance up there;)

Very high standard...

Steamhead 1st January 2003 18:16

Fonck,
My guess is that with sufficient fuel on board to reach Mitiga the runway at EGMC was a bit tight for landing.

flybonanza- thankyou

some people are soooo picky

Yep - aircraft was overweight to go back to Southend...

I wondered what the ear splitting roar was the went over my house this morning whilst I was trying to study for my ATPLS's. Will have given the spotters at the Eastern Perimeter Road something to talk about (first thing last the last incident involving a 707 at EGMC!).

I guess that TL reg might not require those two documents:D :D

I'm pleased I wasn'#t coming the other way in a PA28!

Once did that in LA with a 727 and they don't half look big in the windshield! (even when you know what's coming)

Raw Data 3rd January 2003 18:54

Ostend always was a great parking lot for old/tired/clapped out 707/DC8's.

I seem to remember MK flying a few from Ostend, gear locked down and many systems inoperative, VFR at 2000 to Southend....
