Waypoint Names - An idiots guide
All this flying above the Transition Level is alien to me and I’m having difficulty deciphering waypoint names and abbreviations. Does anybody have a list I can steal in order that I may not sound such a dullard on the radio.

Not quite sure what you mean here . . . Waypoint abbreviations? Are you referring to VOR abbreviations (ie WAL=Wallasey etc) or something else? Be happy to do what I can . . . but specify!

Sailor Boy.
The official answer to your question is the AIP where you will find all you need in the En-route section. [The AIP is quite a way down the first page!] I would tempt you also to have a look at my site, where you will find almost all of the same information with added history etc. For God's sake don't rely on mine for flight planning though! :) [This message has been edited by EGCC Rwy 24 (edited 18 March 2001).] |
Sorry, meant the VOR abbreviations. Told you I was new to this game. The ones in Europe are giving me a real headache.

Ever tried using an IFR enroute chart?
