Does anybody know what is the fastest time ever done between LHR/DUB. I hear that a contender could be an EI 737-200 which used to do a freight run on Saturday Mornings back in the late 80's. I hear the time was 37mins approx. Can anybody confirm this.

What's all this "SIM" crap???
Try a (real) Pilatus Porter with 20 kts on the nose. Well under 1 minute. Cheers |
About 5 seconds, AS-355.
and brakes off to 10,000ft - 2 seconds. Any helicopter with brakes. SC. |
EI 1-11 sim demonstrated circuit, land on same heading as take off, so fly a full 360, on 23 ( that's a while back ) of 54 seconds.
Much better test of the adrenaline is depart Kai tak, (74-4 light, up to 10,000, back on again full stop, any runway. Time is brakes to brakes. Record is about 5 mins 25, but we've discovered that the sims don't fully model side slip, so that makes the descent a bit slow :) Another fun exercise is to try and get large aircraft into Short runways! It's surprising what can be got into places like Chicago Meigs, or LCY, and that's without a hurricane of a head wind. [This message has been edited by Irish Steve (edited 22 February 2001).] |
