Jet2 757 @AGP

I understand that a Jet2 75 had an engine incident ATO at AGP on Thursday. It was still parked there today, any other info?

Lasham Geezer 25th May 2007 20:17

Yep, they need an RB211 if you've got one spare.:ouch:

Thats your bonus gone Nobby!

PPRuNe Radar 25th May 2007 23:37

Rumour is that the FO was a former PPRuNe cadet ... guess he'll be looking for a few free beers from his mates for his 'war story' :p

Well done to the crew for a safe ending to an incident which might have been a lot worse. :ok:

aztruck 26th May 2007 10:49

Awaiting arrival of said FO for war stories. Well done chaps!

Bora Bora 26th May 2007 11:08

So... what exactly happened? Big bang, mucho smoke? In air or on ground?

jet2impress 26th May 2007 20:28

Big bangs.... happened in early climb. Spare RB211 in stock.... on its way to AGP via road as we speak.

Dogma 26th May 2007 21:52

Not as bad as the massive Hydraulic failure on landing in PFO the other day. Very  blocking of the runway.

Good to see our guys waited until the Runway was clear until they departed, unlike Monarch, Mytravel etc.

Flypuppy 27th May 2007 12:17

At last! The FO will have a war story that doesnt involve hosties ;)

Jerbourg 27th May 2007 12:29

I was a pax on board a MON A330 at PFO on Weds, the 757 looked very close to the edge of the runway & even closer to the wing tip!

Nearly Man 27th May 2007 23:08

Eh! Wot that mean?

Ray D'Avecta 27th May 2007 23:22

Nearly Man,.........:D

haughtney1 28th May 2007 08:45

I am in no doubt that NM will have a very lucrative career on the after dinner circuit, with the quality of his PA's:8

Nearly Man 29th May 2007 00:16

All done as per SOPs and all a none event. Crew all great especially the F/O who was fantastic, sadly is too ugly to have lots of hosties :(

jet2impress 31st May 2007 12:06

Any idea if G-LSAC is still in AGP. Word here was that it was due back last Monday. Wonder whats keeping her?

IB4138 31st May 2007 12:17

Yes, AC is still parked at AGP.

There appears to be a problem between the Jet2 engineers and the airport authority over allowing a mobile crane airside to carry out repairs. Think aircraft will need to be moved for the work to be carried out. Ramp space is at a premium at AGP, with the new terminal construction works, so the working space for an engine change using heavy equipment is not available where it is parked at present.

The replacement engine is in the Aviance/Flightcare cargo shed at the mo.
jet2 engineers have driven off to lunch.

AlphaWhiskyRomeo 8th June 2007 15:02

Might sound daft, but would an AOG engine change affect the engine sound at all?

There has been a Jet2 757 departing MAN this week which sounds pretty different from the others.

jet2impress 8th June 2007 15:10

The 757's in MAN this week have been G-LSAD and G-LSAE. G-LSAC was the a/c that had the change. Believe that that one is in NCL now. Can't say I have noticed any difference in sound from either of the 2 a/c in MAN this week. However, when I fly on AD, I am convinced it sounds a little louder than the others, could just be my imagination though.

Snigs 8th June 2007 15:33

Ahh, so that's why the FO didn't respond to my text, too busy signing autographs and fending off hosties!

Well done mate. :)

AlphaWhiskyRomeo 8th June 2007 21:47

One machine definitely has a different and louder tone to the others.

It's painted white and red if that helps?

But haven't they all got RR engines?

Jet2 Engine Noise

Alpha.W.R.

Regards your post 16
I had a friend who returned from Alicante about 11 days ago, he noticed a strange noise on departure and in the climb, although it was ok in the cruise.
He likened it to a dry bearing sound, cabin crew were aware of the noise and said it had checked out ok. My friend thought the 757 was ex A.A. machine. Hope that helps.
Regards,
Peakp

Ps, He also said the cabin was looking a bit shabby
