Private widebodies
How popular are widebody private jets?
Boeing boasts about having sold a number of 747-800 and 787 business jets. Airbus recently opened a section on their website about widebody private jets. And see Gulfstream: Industry sources say the company is working on a widebody with a 13,300km (7,200nm) range, compared with the G550's 12,500km at Mach 0.8. www.flightglobal.com/Articles/2006/10/24/Navigation/177/210156/Gulfstream+rumoured+to+be+set+to+add+'Fat+5'+larger%2c+longe r-range+G550+variant+to.html Sure - there are a lot of interior options which just do not fit into the 12 foot cabin width of 737 or 320. What kind of cross-section could Gulfstream be looking into? And what are the other longhaul jet manufacturers up to (Bombardier, Dassault...)? |
I suppose the 747sp has been the ultimate in wide body private jets .... I've seen the one below from time to time ......
What a surprise to see this private 747. The owner left Zurich with 6 very expensive cars http://www.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!/open.file/1080796/M/ |
A 747-400 private jet is operated by the Dubai Air Wing. It visited NCL recently

VP BAT shown in the photo seems to spend most of it's time at EGHH. I was told that the Far East owner's son goes to Bournemouth College (sorry, University). It came right over the house recently on approach to 08 (well north of the centre line). Nice to see, and hear.

Usually owned by Middle-east sheikhs or oil magnates. The Middle-Eastern royal families often own A340s/777s/L-1011s/747s and have them as part of their private fleet, even if they are in the colour scheme of the National Airline. (Kuwait,Saudi, Qatar etc etc) There are also others with 767s (Chelski's owner of course) and the like. |
If you want to do some serious private widebodied spotting:eek: go to Stansted, they have lots that go in over the Northside of the Airport.

I don't think it was that one.It did not have a white fuselage

it is apparently leased to someone. AFAIK, there are 2 VIP B777s in complete configuration and 1 in a semi VIP configuration, all based in Saudi. Hobie, the B747SP is an awesome machine, but surely you must admit that a VIP B747-400 is much cooler!!!! Mutt |

Not really, the owners are based in Saudi Arabia, so in order to maintain the "N" registration. they presumably set up a USA based trust, hence the Wells Fargo bank address.

Saudi Royal flight has two (2) L-1011-500's outfitted with VIP interiors. King Hussan of Jordian also had an L-1011-500, it is now owned by someone called Al Anwa Trading?

Talking of privetly/government owned widebodies, does anybody know why the Embasy of Saudi Arabia's A340-300 is a regular to Brize Norton? HM!! |
At Stansted today Private B767 VP-BKS and Private B777 VP-BRH and a new Private N reg B767 will try and get a look over later.
