Several people I know received an email from the operator today advising it would be in EMA next week if they fancied a look round.

UPSAirOps 23rd November 2005 18:23

Wondered how long it'd be before this one got out. As far as I knew it wasn't 100% confirmed when I was told though - although this was last week. Is it now confirmed?

Rgds..

AlphaWhiskyRomeo 23rd November 2005 18:42

I reckon.

No idea where she's off to though.

Pakistan maybe?

EMA hasn't got the longest runway that she's ever used, has it.

EKKL 23rd November 2005 19:11

Ok, so for those who don't know abreviations, where on earth is egnx, ema, lba, man etc etc etc........

I am sick of reading these posts by spotters trying to be 'hip', can you not just say Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton or wherever it is you are on about so those abroad or not quite as savvy as you lot know what you are bloody on about..

Curious Pax 23rd November 2005 20:12

We'd take that comment more seriously if you'd called yourself Kalundborg! :ok:

HEATHROW DIRECTOR 23rd November 2005 20:33

EKKL... This is the PROFESSIONAL pilots.... network, and there's no need for bad language thank you.. It figures that the people on here are, somehow, mixed up with the aviation industry. WE all understand - it's you outsiders who don't. Oh yes, as well as being an avid spotter I spent nigh on 40 years in the aviation industry and the only "hip" I know about is the one that pains me when I'm on the running machine...

EKKL 23rd November 2005 20:59

Sorry HD, it just annoys me when I don't know where the airport is when mentioned in a post. Why can't people just type the name of the airport!

FYI, I am a professional photographer with a lapsed PPL from a few years back. :(

Harrier46 23rd November 2005 21:19

Hope it's confirmed as I got my invite today and will be paying a visit to EMA (or maybe I should say East Midlands).

Caudillo 23rd November 2005 22:44

"Gerr orf moi laand!"

WE all understand - it's you outsiders who don't
That's not even said tongue-in-cheek is it? "Outsiders" for Gods sake? This isn't some farmers market.

Like EKKL I often don't understand either. There are thousands of codes - it'd make life a lot easier if the places were spelt out. Perhaps an encyclopaedic knowledge of airport abbreviations should be de rigeur for professional pilots eh?

VP8 23rd November 2005 22:48

There are plenty of websites from a google search that will tell you what the decodes are!!!!

Aparrently it is loaded inbound only

<<This isn't some farmers market. >>

Well said, Caudillo! It's a place for aviation professionals

:D :D :D

Caudillo 24th November 2005 13:13

The forum title of "Spectators Balcony" wouldn't suggest that to me... :hmm:

BOAC 26th November 2005 11:42

As requested, EKKL, could you explain to our spotters the meaning of your username?

EKKL 26th November 2005 12:44

Solo'd in it. :)

AlphaWhiskyRomeo 26th November 2005 13:51

Anyway, back to the original topic....

I've been told the Myria is loading and is outbound on Friday.

No idea if she's coming in loaded.

HEATHROW DIRECTOR 27th November 2005 07:27

Latest word I have, via another email group, which is supposed to come from Antonov:

Due in Monday 17:.55 Due out Saturday 3rd at 08:00!

I know no more but, as before, would be mega-grateful for any additional info as we'll be heading north for this one...

almost professional 27th November 2005 14:16

due in monday, out saturday-parking on western cargo-might pull rank to be on tower for that one!

HEATHROW DIRECTOR 27th November 2005 14:23

Thanks for that - is "western cargo" visible from any road please? I do have a friend in ATC but wouldn't bother him for such trivia!

almost professional 27th November 2005 15:20

not sure what the opening times for the aeropark are-you would certainly see it from there, or else the road from the nags head pub in donington on the north side
(sure CJ wouldn't have minded!)

HEATHROW DIRECTOR 27th November 2005 16:07

OK thanks indeed. If u see two suspicious looking pensioners mooching about with a telescope and camera it's probably us! Pass our best to CJ (or even CF!)

almost professional 27th November 2005 16:12

Will do, he retires in april-how will we replace him!

HEATHROW DIRECTOR 28th November 2005 07:33

'bout time - he's older than God, surely?? We worked together many, many moons ago in Africa but lost contact long ago.

AlphaWhiskyRomeo 28th November 2005 10:23

The beast is currently due in to EMA at around 1830 tonight.
Positioning from Baku, but is not airborne yet,

Global Pilot 28th November 2005 11:15

ADB7747 (A225) airborne at 1140z, ETZ into EGNX 1822.
Also POT1312 (A124) in from EFHK at 1439z and
VDA4048 (A124) got in from UNNT at 0805z.

Some heavy lifting going on at EMA over next few days then! EKKL, sorry for all the
codes:-)

rgds,
GP.

chevvron 28th November 2005 11:47

So it can get into NX then. It operated from LF with no problems years ago!

AlphaWhiskyRomeo 28th November 2005 12:15

Actually the An-225 was airborne at 12.35 and is due 19.15.

chevvron 28th November 2005 12:22

I liked it because it p....d off the Red Arrows at Farnborough that year.
It displayed just before the Reds, and as it vacated the runway (they were lined up waiting to go) there was a visible mass movement of spectators towards the exits! Very few stayed to watch the Reds. Great!

IanH 28th November 2005 16:55

Apparently its on London Airways at the moment, so its not far away !

HEATHROW DIRECTOR 28th November 2005 18:02

IanH... Many thanks for that. "London Airways" eh?? You must be as old as me :D

Mr Angry from Purley 28th November 2005 18:08

Even in the dark, absolutely awesome, hope to get a looksie tom

VP8 28th November 2005 18:23

AlphaWhiskyRomeo 28th November 2005 18:58

Hoping to get a look round it myself this week.

What's it doing at EMA? Relief for Kashmir?

Additionally, HDA530 which was a B747 diverted in from Manchester earlier & I presume the Gemini MD11 is still tech on the West Apron?

Would make a nice sight to see a few heavies on the deck at the same time!

FC

almost professional 28th November 2005 19:45

1 An225, 2 An124 and the gemini MD11-B747 has gone back to Manch, but should be three more MD11's later!
my god but its a big bu**er!, its parked behind the 124 and it dwarves it

jamojdm 28th November 2005 22:26

Is it still due to leave at 0800 on Sat?

Any updates welcome as I plan to head over from Manchester to see her.

Also depending on runway wheres the best place to get her flying over my head?

Jamo

VP8 29th November 2005 16:54
