Relaunch 29th Apr 2001 16:08

Know It All
Your Information intrigues me, I presume you are or have something to do with the man who has a vulcan?
7 aircraft are detained by the airport which are owned either outright or partialy with Comed, 5 aircraft are detained by the airport wholely owned by Comed, two aircraft escaped and are sat at Carlisle, and one aircraft as you rightly state is at Leeds, with unpaid maintenance charges of £180k.
Mr Whitehead was the front man for a consortium on the Isle Of Man, the truth of the Comed demise is as yet not knowledge although I belive if the deal is not struck with the airport the whole mess will end up in court and thoes out there that helped stop a company employing 70+ staff and an annual turnover in excess of 4.5 Million will be brought to justice.
A deal had been struck with the airport on thursday 12 April 2001 although the airport appears to be back pedaling now , does any one know any more ?

I confirm that £664,762.74 is the Total owed to Blackpool Airport Ltd from Comed Aviation Ltd.
Other debts are due to others.

Of the Eleven aircraft impounded at the airport :-
1 Bandit Owned by Belgian Business, Sky Service BVBA
2 PA23's Both bought by Comed from private individuals, neither paid for!
1 Slingsby Jointly owned by group
5 PA28's 2 certainly owned by private individuals
1 Chipmunk Privately owned
1 C172 Comed owned

The owner of one of the PA28's, Mr P Bird who featured in the Blackpool Gazette article had a heart attack on the 11th April and was in intensive care foe a week. Hope he is OK now.

£544,154.13 is the Total allocated to the eleven aircraft impounded by the airport.
This is the amount wanted by the airport from the owners of these eleven aircraft.

Other aircraft have been impounded by the receivers at Blackpool. Does anybody know how many and what they are?
Do the receivers have rights to the aircraft at Carlisle?

If Mr M does a deal with the airport and gets his aircraft back in his possession can the receivers then take them of him to repay debts?

I have heard that fuel is not recoverable under section 88 is this correct?

Regarding the Vulcan - I hope this is not a Red Steer!

Any more info greatly received.

Rob 747
Do Not, I say again Do not pre pay for any Flight Training, pay as you go,

I invested money upfront in the former Comed Aviation, and for unseen circumstances the Flying Club was shut down right in the middle of my Training.
As for Multiflight, they also helped with the demise of Comed by charging unauthorised repair bills on Robs 3 Bandits totaling over £250.000.00 in just three months!

Then to add insult to injury they impounded Comeds bandit due to their inability to pay, and the rest, I am affraid is history.

There are no Commercial Flight Schools at Blackpool, Comed was the only one that held all approvals, however I belive Comed is about ready to get going again, and if you want Commercial Training get In touch with John Hunter on 01253 401837, he is an excellent Instructor and will deliver the goods in a shortest time, but be wary, do not, I say again do not pay up front for any Flight Training.

Chox Away 7th May 2001 00:33

G'day peeps.

Been lurking around this thread for a while now and thought I'd post my own penneth worth in order to get some clarity on the situation.

According to Know It All, Comed only owned 1 aircraft (C172). The PA23's were not paid for, and all other aircraft impounded seem to be spoken for elsewhere. ReLaunch however seems to think that Comed own (or partially own)a lot more than that. Either way the general vibes I'm picking up from these posts are that Comed (or 'Comedy') as some people prefer, are (or more appropriately, were)a relatively small fish in the sea.

However, here's what's bugging me; credit of over £660K seems to be a rather large amount for such a very small fish. Surely this amount must have been authorised from somewhere.

Any thoughts?

Know It All 7th May 2001 13:43

I am surprised by Relaunch still thinking that Comed may rise from the ashes.

The receiver's report shows "Recorded unsecured claims from creditors per the company's records amount to approximately £1,515,000.00. Discussions with various parties regarding selling the company as a going-concern have been unsuccessful, he (the receiver) is in the process of releasing Company assets piecemeal to try and recover the indebtedness to the Debenture Holder. At this stage there is little prospect of the Debenture holder recovering its total indebtedness (£187,000). Also Based on current estimates there is no prospect of a dividend to unsecured creditors". I did not know about the bad debt from Executive airlines Dublin for £245,000. Any Others?

Good news for the private owners - I have been told the CAA has confirmed that fuel is not recoverable under Section 88 and have put this in writing. I have also been told that the airport solicitors have withdrawn the claim for unpaid landing fees because these had been paid. It's a good job the Airport manager used to be the Finance director or this may not have come to light so quickly!!

Rob 747, I agree with Relaunch, J Hunter is the man for CPL training he will push you hard but make use of every minute in the aircraft.

BannerMan 7th May 2001 17:45

Bannerman bought all the assets of the Comed Clubhouse and hangar, stock and equipment, everything from toilet rolls to T-shirts, caps ties, split pins to one-armed bandits, not RM, he has two arms! Everything is for sale but I must warn you that RM is trying to buy furniture back for his new venue on Blackpool Airport! Also available two Citroen vans and a Granada car, collected at Bannerman's door is a bucketful of tears from the unfortunates that got career development loans from their Banks paid direct to Comed's account, one wonders whether the Bank has a responsibility here as they have not acted responsibly passing client's money direct to the company without checking it out fully. Is there a legal precident to be established here?

Should Robert be allowed to trade again on Blackpool airport - that is the question.

dada 7th May 2001 20:28

only on a milkround and then perhaps people could end up owing him money and he'd realise
what it feels like to be owed.

Willy Jazz the cans 2 7th May 2001 20:34

Shouldn't be allowed to trade anywhere if you ask me. Oh how I miss the datapost.

Hope all is well with all the staff that I haven't caught up with, we must get that pi$$up sorted!! PP when and where matey?

I'm on my way!

PENNINE BOY 9th May 2001 03:09

Mucky ripped off to many people with money up front, should not be allowed to trade again at blackpool.

Come back Sandra!!!!

Know It All 13th May 2001 17:25

Well, Here is some more Comed news. Did you know that somebody has set up three new companies last week, Comed Flight Training Ltd, Comed Maintenance Ltd and Comed Schedule Services Ltd. Comed Flight Training is in the name of Martindale Kingham, Worsley House, Windle Street, St Helens. I don't have the details of the other two yet. Does any body else know about this?

Also the Receivers report refers to Windmill Investment Ltd as the debenture holder, Companies House show only one Windmill Investments Ltd which had changed it's name from Flitbuy Ltd on the 17/04/2001, any body know anything about this?

Chox Away, I have been told the credit was authorised by the Airport Manager Gary Eastwood with the full backing of the board of directors.

Bannerman, it looks like "Comed" maybe up and running again shortly but "who" is going to be Comed? Surely it can not be Murgy!

Chox Away 14th May 2001 01:39

Know It All -

Your information intrigues me more and more. Are the debenture holders, Windmill Investments Ltd part of the same company as Windmill Holdings? Why should they have changed their name after being dormant and doing so only after bringing proceedings against Comed?

You also say, Mr Gary Eastwood (Airport Managing Director) had the full backing of the board of directors. If the local Authority wholly owns Blackpool Airport, why can I not find any reference to Comed and their financial problems in the local council minutes?
