Edinburgh Aiport heavy police presence

Is there something going on at EDI this avo? (16/05 14.00) Just had to fight my way out of the airport from all the police everywhere. There're not only all over the approach road but also the cargo and permiter roads!

It'll be some minor or major Royal on the way to or from Balmoral.

A full emergency was put on due to an aircraft landing with a burst tyre. Emergency service vehicles you saw were from the outside agencies that gather at the RVP's just in case the incident escalates. Aircraft landed safely with no further damage.

Could it have been Rangers supporters coming back from Manchester? They weren't in a good mood allegedly:ouch:

How can a burst tyre escalate?

Guest 112233 16th May 2008 20:03

A burst Tyre can escalate, when the tyre on the other side of the axle decides to cast of its "mortal coil" during the landing roll out - tough on us SLF riding along on a pair of rims - not to mention the runway .

Thanks
