Barton handle a lot of late helicopter movements during the winter, mainly during football matches.
Last night there was a bright purple sea king in and obviously the police heli is busy all night long :bored:

Well obviously there is the Police Chopper, but I thought commercial flights struggled to get permission to get in there - certainly I was told that by an operator recently.

Obviously there is no ILS to aid landings either.

Thanks - I did see a PIA flight number arriving at that time, but couldn't see that it was a 9M- reg.

I presume this increases their capacity a bit on their usual routes as I know the A310 has been flying into MAN a bit.
It would be nice to get the 747s fit to fly again soon.

I believe that there was a DOD Atlas Air 74F at MAN today with a RCH flight number, but it wasn't listed as flying into MAN today.

It was due out to a Turkish Air Base around lunchtime.

When did it arrive at MAN, and was it supposed to fly into MAN?

Or was it a PIK diversion from yesterday, or similar???

wiccan 4th Dec 2006 21:08

Arrived early for fuel, was going to Turkey, went to PIK at 1800ish

Atlas Air Boeing 747-200 N528MC chose Manchester over gusty conditions at Glasgow Prestwick during the early hours, diverting in as "Giant8224" to spent the day parked on the west apron.

There was a Saudi Herc diverted in from LBA, as well as multiple RAF Herc diverts from Lyneham in the last few days.

XV290 looks like the one. It's a pity I missed the VC10.

Thanks both.

gingernut 24th Dec 2006 22:45

The VC10 looked fantastic as it departed (noisily) on Thursday morning.

AlphaWhiskyRomeo 30th Dec 2006 00:46

I noticed the Atlas 74F was in from Gander and out to AMS.

Did it bring cargo in?

And if so, what?

AlphaWhiskyRomeo 7th Feb 2007 15:31

Due out tonight to Cancun I believe.

Taking an engine out for an FCA aircraft down there.

No idea if it's coming back in with the sick one though.

BYALPHAINDIA 11th Feb 2007 20:09

I Don't know if it has already being mentioned, But a friend of mine informed me that PIA 747's have being 'Banned' from UK Airspace, I saw what looked like a PIA 747 over Huddersfield on Wed ?

I have not read anything about a 747 ban.

The 747 was descending towards MAN @ 1555.

Regards.;)

BOAC 11th Feb 2007 21:13

Go back and ask your 'friend' to substantiate this statement.

Try Google for 'airline blacklist' (search 'UK') and perhaps see if you can find this? I cannot.

TSR2 11th Feb 2007 21:36

Boac & Byalphaindia

There is an article in the January edition of Airliner World.
Briefly, PIA suspended all B747 operations to Europe due to restrictions imposed by the CAA following inspections carried out on PIA flights to Europe made by B747, B777 and A310 aircraft. The B747 flight suspension came into effect early November.
Last Wednesdays PIA flights were operated by B777 aircraft.

BOAC 11th Feb 2007 21:56

Thank you TSR2.

AlphaWhiskyRomeo 14th Feb 2007 17:30

IS the 747 ban still operational? I know they have been flying into LHR, although the 777s are still serving MAN.

And does anyone know about the AA 767 landing at MAN late morning on Wednesday? It wasn't a scheduled arrival as far as I could make out - so assumed it must be some kind of med/tech divert of another flight or a return from a departed Manchester flight?

rampman 14th Feb 2007 20:03

AA 055 B763 returnd to man on full emergency with one engien out .. and on landing gashed one of the wheels .... is stopping over night maybe till next week not sure

Red & yellow aircraft parked at MAN

Anyone know what the red + yellow high engined/high wing aircraft parked on a remote stant opposite Condorde at MAN is? Apologies for the criptic description, I taxied past it and was sitting on the wrong side of the aircraft to get a good look at it... :)

BOAC 1st May 2007 11:20

I cannot remember the colour scheme but you could have been looking at the BAe RJX, the only (I think?) example of the advanced 'flying sausage' (BAe146).

Here is a picture

Whats it been doing in MAN then? I'm guessing its a fire-fighting plane?
