My father.... a security risk??
Apart from the hundreds of cockpit rides I did, I also enjoyed cab rides in steam locos (Uncle was a driver), Flightdeck ride on a hovercraft, several rides on the bridge of cross-channel ferries and, as a kid, standing next to the tram driver in Brussels pushing the buttons to open and close the doors (boy was that fun)! I remember when my mum was flying as pax through our area. I asked the skipper to pass on my love and best wishes to her for a good holiday. Next thing was that she was on frequency asking if I'd remembered to comb my hair (family joke). I, like so many others, could recount hundreds of stories which made aviation/travel so much fun. Today it's a necessity but no longer anywhere as enjoyable as in the past.
