BA (Med) Suspend Georgia Services

'British Mediterranean Airways, a franchise partner of British Airways, has announced with regret the temporary suspension of services between London and Tbilisi in Georgia with immediate effect. The decision was taken after the Aeronautical Authorities of Georgia said it would not renew the operating permit for the airline.

All British Mediterranean services between the UK and Georgia will be suspended for the duration of the summer allowing time for the relevant authorities to resolve the outstanding issues.

Subject to the issuance of an operating permit by the Government of Georgia, it is our intention to resume services at the start of the winter scheduling season (27 October 2003).'

Why have BA (Med) had their operating certificate refused?

Because the Georgians want more money and BMed refuse to pay the inflated price.
