DLH A380 Diverting to Paris

Was outside about 50 minutes ago photographing the westbound A380 overflying Jersey. 5 minutes later I observed that it had made a left turn & was heading east & making a rapid descent to FL280. It stabilized at 280 until closer to Paris; & then descended at 3000fpm+
before making an, apparently, safe landing at Paris. Just wondered if anyone knows the full story.

Most likely a medical emergency.

I should add that it was squawking 7700. Would this be relevant to a medical emergency ?

Yes, saw it again a while ago - got some nice photos of it !
I’m interested in A380 “happenings”, as my son flies them. He thought it was most likely a sick pax, too.
Thanks to all.

Well it is their ICAO callsign designator so its not an unreasonable way to describe them.

Well, then the same goes for BMW and many other brands.
And for BMW no research needed, it has on its website a historical overview page of their activities in that era. And it's even (partly) aviation related, so not too big a topic drift

After 38 years in ATC, I always use ICAO designator for airlines & aerodromes. Before the switch to 3 letters for airlines I used the 2 letter codes, which would have been LH in this case. Can’t see where I have gone wrong !
