Digital spot of the week so far - the gorgeous Mew Gull reproduction G-HEKL out for a spin round East Anglia. If I was where I will be tomorrow I'd have seen it for real...

Now sitting where I should have been to see the Mew Gull on Tuesday with a lovely view of a KC-135 coming out of Mildenhall. Was in the shower when the RC-135 came over!

Think I'm about to get a close look at something rather large... ah, not as close as I'd thought but a C-5 at 2500' is an impressive sight even from 2 miles away.

I heard some jet noise around 0100 today and saw an Airtanker Voyager heading south with I presume chicks in tow. It is just arriving at Ascension about now. Typhoons I presume. 8+ hours in a single seat fighter is some time to keep your legs crossed, but I guess they have a relief tube.

Martin-Baker is developing a bladder, plumbing and "anatomically-appropriate interface" to the user's urethral outlet, all of which will be within the user's flight-suit.

Did a KC-135 really just scream over my sister's village 20 miles east of Mildenhall at 750'? She didn't hear it but her windows are usually only open on the north side...

French Cessna 337 inbound Biggin, another one of those types which are rarely seen in the UK now, though I thought I'd seen a Cessna O-2 (and an O-1) were at Biggin. Still two 337s on the UK register.

The Norwegian Spitfire left yesterday for it's new home amidst the Fjords...

Edit: correction, the French 337 has gone to Duxford...

Saw a SAAB Safir passing over my house, confirmed by Flightradar24 - they are pretty those old SAABs the cars too!

Just had a USN C-2 Greyhound go over laboriously and invisibly in the blue sky. A rare bird these days.

Another unusual OTT at much the same time was Botswana Defence Force's newest C-130 en route from Mildenhall to Gran Canaria, still using a US military hex code.

On further research, it seems that it was indeed the Botswana C-130H. It has seemingly started off flying circuits off the southern Portugal coast before heading up to Mildenhall and the hex suggested it was a C-2, and it didn't sound like a Herc, so......Interesting that it was using the wrong hex-code. Apparently ex-Afghani Air Corps as well!

Ah, yep I saw the Botswana Herc on replay...think I must have been snoozing when it flew past.

Once saw a Botswana Defence Force Islander over my school, heading towards Shoreham and presumably onwards delivery...
