New or revised Ryanair livery?

Just curious if anyone has heard that Ryanair are to change or modify their livery?

Yes I've heard that a new more modern livery will be unveiled when the first A320 NEOs arrive.

Thread drift, but I noticed recently that all of the harps have a female figure now. I'm sure they used to have a mix of male and female ones. When did that change? (Note: I'm not the most observant of folks so it might have been about 10 years ago.)

Whilst on the subject of Ryanair changes, what is Ryanair Sun ? I saw it on an airport wall in a list of operators.

The first of the new fleet of (now renamed) B737 8-200's sitting idle at the Boeing factory (with the word MAX now painted out) are in the original livery

Thanks, did/does it have a different livery/titles ? Will Ryanair still own Buzz ? Wasn't there some lo-co at the end of the 90's called Buzz that flew BaE146's ??

Yes, new livery coming, yes remains part of Ryanair, and yes the 146 operator was Buzz and was taken over by Ryanair.

It always was female. It's a styalised take of an old version of the coat of arms from the "Kingdom of Ireland"

The logo was "augmented" a few years back to accentuate the female aspects.

BTW, the Ryanair colours are based on the county colours of Tipperary, Blue and Gold, the home country of one Tony Ryan.

Ah I see, I always thought the blue and gold was from an old Irish flag that had the stars of the Plough (constellation) in gold on a blue background.
I could swear there were some male ones... I'll check my photo collection and see...

I think the blue aspect of the livery was from when RYR bought the 737-200's from Britannia. Rather than apply a new livery, they maintained the lower blue.

Ay, just had a look through a bigger photo collection than mine and it seems the change in chest shape (I'm being polite here) occurred at the same time as the modified livery. It could have been that during the period when the fleet was in transition I thought they deliberately had some male ones and some female ones. Cheers JaS

Not correct as they acquired 737-200s from several sources, not just Britannia, and all were fully repainted soon after acquisition. I recall being told by a person in the company that the choice of dark blue was in part because it would not show dirt and grime as readily as a light colour.

Some operated all white with titles for a while. The harp was on the nose section and the tail just had Ryanair angled on it.

Wasn't that just on the 1-11's ? I can't recall seeing 737's in that scheme.

Yep, early 737s too. Go to Airliners and search (for eg) EI-CJC. You will see dozens of photos of it in the Hertz livery but also in the white livery I mentioned above.

The 1-11's ended their time in the fleet wearing a harp livery.
