Funchal early departure turn

Says in the SID turn as soon as practicable to avoid the high ground. What would be the minimum altitude to start the right turn (RWY 05) or a left turn (RWY 23) my guess would be 400ft

It used to say start the turn at 100AGL, that is what I still do and teach.

Thanks johnny.

What type rating do you have? I’m looking for 738 flap configuration sequence for the approach?

And, for an engine-out departure, the instruction was (probably still is) "start the turn no later than gear up"

Depends on your performance provider, ours doesn’t say that.

Hope this will help for 05:

Cross the VOR on the headland at 250kts 1400 QNH (to avoid 'Too low gear'). Close throttles and descend to 1000 QNH. At 220kts, take gear and at min clean select landing flap. Power up as necessary to maintain Vref+15 until rolling out on final. Easy!
