Mystery aircraft, or, Wings over Elsecar

Help please with aircraft recognition.
Flying low over Elsecar, Barnsley, yesterday, single engined, propellor, low wing a/c with wingtip bulges painted black, straight and parallel leading and trailing edges and tall, squared off fin. Configuration reminds me of F-80 Shooting Star, but that was a jet.

Regards
Geoff

My guess would be one of the Grob 120TP Prefects that the RAF has recently started operating out of Cranwell

PA24 Comanche? Some had 'tip tanks.
Alternatively some Mooneys have them too.

Hope this one has been evaluated by Boscombe Down, unlike the G115.
