According to twitter an AF A380 JFK to CDG has diverted into EGCC. Thought this forum might have given some background

The chances of one of them going sick are higher than normal. There's enough of them.

Reported elsewhere to be a crew hours issue.
The aircraft is now tech, with AF sending in 2 x A320s and an A318 to take pax onward to Paris.

there is a lot more to this
1. the aircraft was delayed 5hrs at JFK, somewhere it was realised that they were not going to make it to Paris without crew running out of hours.
2. the flight at some time was diverted to MAN to offload crew and bring a new crew from CDG on one of the scheduled flights.
3. Crew arrived at MAN and then found that the a380 had gone tech
4. 2 A320 and an A318 were flow from Paris to collect passenger to continue onwards to Paris
5 A380 will spend night at MAN and hopefully depart tomorrow

6. I believe there was also a death on the flight. The pilot requested medical assistance when at gate.

A busy day......

Would the pilots have had some discretion here to carry on to CDG? From cruise level it's surely only another 50-60 mins surely?
