Please help to explain this confusing flight record

Hi,

I am not a pilot and I would like to know what is going on with this flight.

The planned flight path shows it was scheduled to land at YHM (Hamilton), and that is listed as the final destination. I believe that is where the plane did land.

But the actual flight path shows it appeared to land at YKZ (Buttonville).

C-FBNW ? 01-May-2014 ? KMDW - CYHM ? FlightAware

Also - why is the planned path in such a strange zig-zag?

Thank you.

Weather avoidance? Also, the "preferred" track shown is a straight line and aircraft rarely fly direct from A-B. In busy airspace radar may be used to separate traffic which may involve taking aircraft off the planned path.
