MH370 B777 Software question.

I am not a professional or amateur pilot. I am extremely keen on aviation and design, build and fly RC aircraft. I have followed Pprune for many years as a guest. Whilst reading the thread on MH370 I was trying to think if there was a single point that may shut down the ability of a B777's flight crew to use their instruments and comms. The point which may cause problems of this nature which has the lowest redundancy that I could find seemed to be the AIMS which has two cabinets. I then began a search to see if these had ever been a problem in the past and found this http://www2.lba.de/dokumente/lta/2009-083.pdf

While it is extremely unlikely that this would have any relevance there is a bit of a mystery here and this document talks about some of the speculated possibilities that have been written about.

Can anyone say if this is a complete non starter or a very slim possibility?

Until the B777 aircraft is found for further investigation and positive conclusion then everything will come under slim possibility.

It certainly seems to be something the investigation would consider
