Hello there.
To start with, I'm not a pilot, but I'm in the process of collecting money to get the first PPL(A) licence. Anyway, I'm not going to ask any questions regarding it, right now I would love to get some examples of civil aviation slang (UK/USA) as I am to write an article comparing 2 versions of that slang (Polish and English)(decided to make a topic here instead of doing it in Jet Blast section as it's full of spam). I gathered a nice amount of examples in Polish language but there's no chance I can do that with English without doing it online.
I am going to give a list of 'examples' that I would love to be translated into slang.

'Hosties' for the female ones, from 'air hostesses'. Always liked that one since it has this rather affectionate ring to it, unlike 'trolley dolly', which is just one of the many pejorative names for female cabin crew.

I have an abiding memory of an EasyJet steward explaining, during the safety demonstration, that the whistle on the lifejacket is there for attracting the attention of passing sailors.
