Thumbs down Young "BA" 330 being scrapped

Former bmi A330, only 12-14 years old, low-houred, is being scrapped at KSFB. It looks out of place alongside a number of old and knackered 767's and DC10's. What a shame, and what a waste of resources. I assume it is worth more in bits than as a flyable machine.

Surely it would have made a great Voyager tanker contender for the RAF. Maybe a tax deductible donation from BA/IAG to the RAF!

I understand the owner sought offers and the highest bidder was looking to reduce the aircraft for spares. It seems it was worth more that way, which is s shame as new A330-243s are very much in demand.

It's essentially being recycled rather than scrapped remember, but I agree a shame.

Not without precedent - several 737NGs have been scrapped in the last year, including a couple of 7-year-old ex-EZY 700s, as well as many of the 8/9-year-old ex-Malev 600s (though admittedly there is almost no market nowadays for the B736).

I have about as much sympathy for a scrapped Airbus as I do for a dead lawyer..

To add some balance give me a flight on an Airbus rather than a Boeing anyday.
