RYR2QU emergency?

Watched just now Ryanair flight from Birmingham to Alicante declaring emergency near Poitiers, descended fast to FL140 and then vanished from radar (Flight radar app). Any details?

"Vanished from radar" makes it sound rather more dramatic than it undoubtedly was.

The Flight Radar app, notwithstanding its name, has nothing to do with radar, and doesn't guarantee coverage of any specific airspace.

RYR2QU emergency?

That is why I gave the source to make it clear. Nevertheless it vanished from the screen and I wonder what is behind it. I may speculate it landed at Limoges. But normally on this App you can follow A/C nicely to low altitudes before landing, not this time.
No sensacionalism intended...

I'm sorry, but as an aviation enthusiast myself, I cannot for the life of me understand why there's now this desease of having to report and know what every E squawk seen on FR24 is about. 99.99% of the time it's nothing of any significant interest (more often than not it's a medical emergency).

RYR2QU emergency?

Curiosity?
I observed few times squawk 7700 planes and it was interesting to see e.g. how such a plane was placed in front of a row of aircrafts bound for Gatwick and it disappeared at 140 ft. Now for the first time I saw a case when it was gone at 14.000 and I wonder what the case is this?
Sorry for asking then...

I too watched the same a/c and did find unsual that it dissappeared at 140, normally you can follow the a/c to its destination, and Pali take no notice of people, you wanna report it report it.

It may well have landed at Limoges, or somewhere else enroute, but the aircraft continued to ALC where it landed about half an hour ago - suggesting, as already predicted, a passenger medical issue rather than a technical problem.

Move along now, folks, nothing to see.

As it descended below 140 it obviously moved out of range of whatever enthusiast's ADS-B receiver was feeding FlightRadar at the time. Nothing more dramatic than that.

Pali I've followed aircraft to Tarbes/Lourdes a few times on FR24 and often lose them well before landing.Nobody there with a suitable receiver I'd guess. As Groundloop suggested

A Jet 2 737 Manchester to Malaga flight has just diverted to Leeds shortly after take off.Not a serious sqawk though.Did a few holds before landing just a few minutes ago

Thanx for replies

To observe FlightRadar24 is sometimes fun and source of amazement.

Without creating new thread - look at this picture:

This a/c had squawk 7700 and allegedly it was a Royal Saudi Air Force circling between Ireland and Cornwall. I had no idea what it meant.

After a while it changed identity to Airbus Industrie and landed at Southampton:

We can enjoy speculating about what we see...

I noticed that one Pali, it's appears to be the next A330MRT for the RAF, presumably on test out of Bournemouth.

Very addictive this FR24 business...

Apparently, according to those maps, both Blackpool and Luton are now in Devon, just south of Exeter.

Maybe one of the site moderators can set up a new subsection specifically for discussing things seen on FR24 (and similar websites). That would keep the Spectators Balcony forum more for the 'traditional' spotter questions and topics of discussion.

That must be Apple's troubled mapping, Dave; either that or Blackpool and Luton are on their hols...

According to my Ordnance Survey maps there are indeed villages called Blackpool and Luton in Devon in approximately those positions. There are in fact three Blackpools in Devon and two Lutons! So it must be a quirk of the mapping software that picks random villages/towns at different levels of zoom.

- actually, Jackie, I fear you are 'out of touch' with your Ian Allan reggie book approach. I think this IS the new 'spotter questions and topics of discussion' arena and I would not put it past the modern spotter to locate a particular reg in the sky over their house and nip out with binos to 'claim' another tick in their books.

It's related to the infamous Apple Maps c*ck-up, apparently, where some small villages and hamlets are displayed if their name happens to match that of a large town or city.

Go figure.
