Routes for EGLL arrivals off the Atlantic

I have notice some London Arrivals cross the ocean on the same or very similar tracks and then split at 15W with some going Liffy UL975 and others going SLANY STU UP2. The STU UP2 route seems much more direct so I'm just wondering why pilots/airlines route via LIFFY for EGLL??

The route planned can depends on a number of factors. Congestion on certain routes can lead to slots being issues which can cuase delays to the scheduled flight so sometimes a less direct routing is flightplanned to avoid this. Otherwise winds aloft may dictacte a less direct routing, depending heavily on which level you are planned to operate at.
