Gatwick Pre-Delivery Clearance
Gatwick ATC have advised that they are to suspend the PDC trial.
NATS have been unable to make a business case and the time has now come for them to pay for the test equipment!
What's next, unable to keep the ILS CATIII because the spare generator needs diesel.
Amazing, I realise it's a small thing, but it's another example of how we are falling behind the rest of the world.

Hello all - I know over the last few months we`ve been advised not to use ACARS to get a PDC as a cost cutting move! why use the expensive box of tricks when you can use the airwaves which are free!
Although I know that some people have been taking it to the extreme and not using ACARS to get met enroute - instead waiting till they get in range of a volmet station.
In fact I believe these same people want to get rid of the ACARS and the spare paper rolls in order to gain a weight reduction and hence achieve a more economic fuel burn!!
(not that many of the 737`s have ACARS now - thats just an expensive toy for the LHR boys!)
