BAKUR-KONAN doesn't appear to correspond to any known airway structure. What am I missing?

Sometimes in the f-plan routings we go direct from one waypoint to the other, without an airways joining them.

How did you get the FPL information from flight radar 24?

I didn't 500 above. I got that off FlightAware. Sorry to give you the impression it was off Flightradar24.

NS - IIRC, a few years ago, the Irish aviation authorities decided to abolish all UARs within the Shannon upper airspace. Hence, none listed nowadays.
I believe this move was based upon the fact that they had very good radar coverage and could thus offer more flexible routeing scenarios as the position of NAT tracks varied from day to day.
It also had benefits for their control sectorisation and staffing.
The UIR entry and exit points remained (or were amended) to permit electronic coordination with adjacent ATC units.

Yep, I've noticed that. Diverse sounding waypoints have surfaced. Also, the 'direct's seem to have increased from the UK side too. UL18 get's a good outing on most days......

F Plan means flight plan which list many details of the flight such a aircraft callsign. aircraft type, Airfield of departure, speed, requested height (Flight level) routing (which lat/long coordinates, airways, upper air routes), airfield of destination, time en-route, and other "good stuff"

DC10RealMan, thanks for that. I thought that an 'f' plan, in this case, may have included the possibility for some more exotic routing as my original post included a non-standard direct routing right across the breadth of the UK.

BAKUR DCT KONAN

As suggested, BAKUR DCT KONAN is a direct option (DCT) available for traffic above FL285 arriving at BAKUR between 0001/0520z (1 hour earlier in summer)
