Plane Identification Recosces

Hello.
I'm new to the world of plane spotting and I'm wanting to learn aircraft identification. I've spent a fair while looking up identification techniques but have found surprisingly little material on the art ):

The best (and really only) resource I've been able to dig up is this fairly short but succinct guide. While the guide itself is excellent it is a little brief and I'm after some more detailed schooling. In particular I'm after ways to determine if a 737 is a 'classic' or a 'new generation' and objective ways to distinguish if an aircraft is "stubby looking" (such as number of windows between the 'shoulder' of the wing and leading door (see 757-200, 757-300) etc.

I've been doing the AirLiners Quiz a fair bit, and while I can get close most of the time I'm often only saved by the fact that there is only one type of A330 on the list rather than being able to identify it as a "200" specifically. I would also really like to learn to identify Douglas aircraft and Golfstream jets as well as other common planes too.

Many thanks.
